3D Printed Records Bring New Tunes to Iconic Fisher-Price Toy Player

My first attempt at a CNC milled Fisher Price record was Stairway to Heaven (see my other videos) and I thought I'd follow it up with the main Star Wars theme.

Whilst the plinky-plonky version is definitely recognisable, it does come up against the limits of what can be done. Some of the notes on the player are repeated on different tracks so that they can be played quickly. However, I needed to use some that aren't. You can hear when the music box trips over the repeated note and skips a little.

Details of how this was made can be found here:

You can now buy one of these records fromhttp://www.shapeways.com/shops/fred
They're a little on the expensive side (about €32 for a single-sided disc or €42 for a double-sided) but this is just the production cost. I've not added any mark up.
